History of Newspaper
#12 Newspaper definition and such
A newspaper is a scheduled publication containing news of current events, informative articles, diverse features and advertising. It usually is printed on relatively inexpensive, low-grade paper such as newsprint. By 2007, there were 6580 daily newspapers in the world selling 395 million copies a day. The worldwide recession of 2008, combined with the rapid growth of web-based alternatives, caused a serious decline in advertising and circulation, as many papers closed or sharply retrenched operations.
General-interest newspapers typically publish stories on local and national political events and personalities, crime, business, entertainment, society and sports. Most traditional papers also feature an editorial page containing editorials written by an editor and columns that express the personal opinions of writers. The newspaper is typically funded by paid subscriptions and advertising.
A wide variety of material has been published in newspapers, including editorial opinions, criticism, persuasion and op-eds; obituaries; entertainment features such as crosswords, sudoku and horoscopes; weather news and forecasts; advice, food and other columns; reviews of radio, movies, television, plays and restaurants; classified ads; display ads, radio and television listings, inserts from local merchants, editorial cartoons, gag cartoons and comic strips.

#11 Newspapers in America
Newspapers in America started with colonization, now today most people read or receive a daily paper. I found some pretty interesting information on this form of media. Check out the Wikipedia to go with it.
MYYYYYY Documentary Essay (:
Documentary Essay
MONDAY:
Police State 4: The Rise of Fema
I found this day very hard to pay attention in class, I did manage to take many notes to try and understand the concept of Fema, but it was pretty difficult to wrap my head around. As I look back over my notes I do not even know where to begin…
One of the main concepts or topics of the video that I took notes on was the reference to New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina. In the documentary they referred to the people who stayed behind in the Super Dome as “scumbags,” I do not agree with this. A couple of years ago I went to New Orleans on a mission trip and I got to go in the Super Dome, and I got to go the Ninth Ward what these people had to go through was nightmare, and still half a decade after it had happened there is so much that needs to be fixed and brought back to life. The people who survived this natural disaster do not need to be referred to as scumbags, they deserve better than that.
On my paper I have other notes that stand out… That I am just going to list off versus elaborating on them, because I really do not know what my opinion is on them…
· Executive Orders
· “Doing a heck of a job” –President George W. Bush
· Arrest people for their speech
· Martial Law
· Fema Labor Camps- Kept secret for 11years
· Plan developed to suspend the constitution just in case
· Secret Government
· National Security
WEDNESDAY:
We started the class period off with a different documentary… “Fall of the Republic: the Presidency of Barack Obama” This Documentary was less difficult to follow but still a hard concept to grasp. I have to say I do not agree with how biased this documentary was because it was very much far to the right. And I am definitely not on that side, just saying.
This documentary seemed to emphasize the idea of an illusion of competition- with the Democrats versus Republicans. The video said the government is trying to destroy everything we stand for and it seemed like they were blaming everything on our President. Our President is our leader, and someone who may differ in views from some of the population, but either way he deserves to be given the respect he has earned by being elected as our leader.
One of my favorite quotes in the documentary was something along the lines of getting rich is the pursuit of happiness…. That is so not true, it may be true for a number of people in our country but that is not true of everyone, and money is not everyone’s main motive in life, there are plenty of people who defy that comment and are changing the world and making a difference out of the goodness of their hearts. Which I know sounds really pathetic on possibly even naive to say, but that’s what I think.

quotesssssssssssssss week 7
"With great power comes great Responsibility" (Rob's response to Andrew walking into class late...again.)
My Response: I love this quote, it is used everywhere and has such a strong meaning behind it and is open to different interpretations. To me this quote represents my freedoms as a human and as an individual. I believe that I have the what it takes to follow these words originally said my FDR and later by Stan Lee.
"and, as Stan Lee, FDR, and Jesus have all been roughly quoted as saying, “With great power comes great responsibility."" (quote from : Fischfood for thought)
sooo yeahh... I like this quote and the context it was used for in class made me laugh.
