#23 HULU

I have my favorite shows that I like to try and keep up with: Glee, Bones, and House. They make my life, however, I have a very busy life between school and work so I never get to watch them when they are on TV. So that’s why the world decided to create Hulu.com . I can watch almost any show when I want and however many times I want, I think it works out pretty well (: and it makes me happy when I finally get some time to relax.

#23 Peace Jam

Peace Jam is an Organization led by 12 Nobel Peace Prize winners, The Nobel Peace Prize winners came up with a list of different challenges that face the world in broad open topics, and then as a member of Peace Jam you pick one of the topics and do a service project on a larger scale. After you complete the project there is a conference held and you are able to present your project to one of the Nobel Peace Prize Winners, so over the years I have met Archbishop Desmond Tutu, and Adolfo Perez Esquivel. It was an AMAZING experience and some of the coolest service projects I have ever done.

#22 My Personal Blog!!!

A while back I decided that since I want to major in Art and Education I should create a portfolio that is easy to access, so based on everything we have learned in Media Literacy I decided that I would create a blog about all of my art. So I have been adding to it over the past couple weeks, I still need to edit the text because it isn’t perfect yet. But, I am going to use it to help further me in life. Next semester I am going to be shadowing my high school art teacher on my free time and he is going to let me try out some of my own ideas with some of his classes and I am going to have them set up blogs and show them to other people. My personal blog is defenetly
worth checking out (:

#21 Correction!!!

Today in class we were given a lecture on “In Medias Res” and about artificial intelligence and technology and were we are going, and you were talking about the flower project done by Gregor Mendel. Mendel worked on genetics, and genetic coding, in class we were told he did his research on poppies, when he actually did his research on pea plants which have different colored flowers and pods etc. After he had done thousands of test in understand the genetic codes and backgrounds of the pea plants he moved on to testing bees.

Quotes: Weeek 13

Quote: “I have a thespian background”
Response: I think it is awesome how well you are able to take on different personalities and roles to help prove your point. It really helps emphasize the different topics we are discussing.
Throughout high school I was in Little Women, and Rebel without a Cause, and then I student directed Les Mieserables.  Those were all really fun experiences and I love being able to dress up and pretend to be someone else and have that fun.

#20 PROMO

For everyone who is reading this blog you need to check out a very controversial and informative opinion, which can be viewed from youtube/johndoeliberty
Also follow all of this on Twitter @johndoeliberty
We have been very fortunate to know who “John Doe” is and the methods behind his madness in his tactics to make you think about media and our surroundings. So check it out!!

#19 Definition

A psycho-pathological condition characterized by delusional fantasies of power, relevance, or omnipotence (unlimited power)
During the course of Media Literacy this word has been thrown around and I wasn’t exactly sure what the meaning of it was. So, today when it was said once again I wrote it down and decided I would look it up and put it up as one of my Wikis. However, after finding out the meaning of Megalomania I do not think that it defines our professor, while his teaching methods are very different I think that he is making a point and making a statement that is important and if this alternative teaching method is the best way for us to understand then that’s just how it is going to be.

Quotess Weekk 9-12

Week 9
Quote: “It is kind of big and clunky”
Response: I wrote down this quote because as we were going through all of our media presentations all of the different types of technology used to be huge and clunky. As the years go by TVs, Computers, Radios, etc. keep getting smaller, lighter, and more advanced. I personally, am looking forward to see what the future will hold because it is all so interesting and impressive how much technology has changed even through my life time. Last summer I was babysitting two of my boys up at my cabin, Ashton and Brody and their parents had a box of VHS out on the floor. They had no idea what it was or what it did. That made me feel old :P ha.. Just last week my parents sent me a link of this toddler using an iPad and “sliding” thru the pages and different screens of a magazine, But when given an actual magazine, the toddler didn’t know what to do. I attached the video below.

Week 10
Quote: “it talks about the soundtrack to your life.” (Learning about Klout and some of the different elements of it such as Last FM)
Response: I wrote down this quote just because I have some really good memories about music, especially with my brother Tyler, who is a Junior at Hermantown High School & a student at UMD. We have always had fun playing very loud music on our car rides to and from school, and one of the songs we played a lot was Soundtrack to my Life. I love that song. I love how for every mood you are in, or every experience has a song that can be played to match it, it makes life so much more entertaining when it has different theme songs to go with it. Check out the Music Video:

Week 11
Quote: “It doesn’t really matter anyway”
Response: I know I wrote down this quote… but I apparently forgot to write notes along with it to help me remember what I wanted to say to go along with it. Which is kind of ironic since that makes it seem like I don’t care, even though I am pretty sure this is one of the COOLEST classes I have ever taken, and I have learned so much. Media Literacy helped me become more media savvy and opened so many different doors and resources. It helped inspire me to create a blog to share my art portfolio, blogging has helped my art come to life and has given me the ability to easily show my work in any setting. Check out that blog at myart03.blogspot.com I keep adding to it and I am liking how it is turning out.

Week 12
Quote: “Who are we Really”

Response: I really like how this class flows, and how so many different theories and ideas are thrown around. It keeps us on our toes wondering what is in store for us each and every day. I wrote down this quote today in class as you were discussing how you have different ways of dressing and/or expressing yourself, and by doing that you leave the element of making our own judgments. Which is kind of how life ends up working out we are given different sides and have to figure out what seems right or wrong to us. One of my favorite examples from growing up is with politics, my parents would take me and my two siblings to many different rally’s and events, for both parties, so we could make our own informed decision. Which I think was really smart of my parents to do, and between me, Tyler, and Savanna, we do all have different opinions and we stand for different topics, which I think is better than a lot of different situations where people are not informed and speak up and out of place, because they a lot of times just sound dumb and ignorant. Sooo yeahh, there it tis for this week.

#18 my most used website

Facebook. My life pretty much revolves around Facebook, for me it is always open, I am always checking it, and I love it. I think it is a great way to build and strengthen my social network. I love that I am able to keep in contact with people and friends I have met over the years and share common interest with them. I also love that I can post pictures of my life to help show who I am as a person. It is a good time.

#17 Girl Scouts

So I have been in Girl Scouts since I was in first grade. I love it! Being in Girl Scouts has given me some of the greatest opportunities of my life. Through Girl Scouts I have made many friends, and have gotten to do some pretty neat stuff. For example: I earned my bronze award hosting a night called “American Pride Night” recognizing our troops and supporting our country. I earned my silver award doing the PR campaign for Girl Scout cookies for my council, for this I led trainings for adults, hosted events for girls, and was all over the media- newspapers, radio, and TV- I got interview by Barbara Ryeolts on Northland Voices. I have also earned my gold award (A HUGE HONOR) For this I coordinated a tour of the Jungle Theater’s production of “Holocaust Witness: The Legacy of Anne Frank” to come to Duluth this presentation showed how to create social change and was viewed by over 1,300 people in my community. I have also been able to go to girl scout camp many years, have been the keynote speaker at different events, and took first place in a film competition. I learned many great skills, and I hope that in the future I will be able to be a girl scout leader. Here is a link to the councils website: http://www.gslakesandpines.org/

**pic will be posted later today***
(In the picture is me and another girl scout at a cookie rally from a bazillion years ago we look reallllly gross but it is all good..)
